The anticipated salary range for this role is between $97,000.00 and $156,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

IT Desktop Engineer
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
System Deployment & Configuration
- Build and maintain Windows system deployment standards to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Deploy, configure, and support Windows Server and Windows 10/11 desktop systems, including hardware and software installation.
- Align solutions with the existing technology stack to ensure seamless delivery across the enterprise.
Patch Management & Compliance
- Manage and implement Microsoft Patch Management across servers and desktops using tools like Microsoft Configuration Manager.
- Ensure consistent Windows OS and application versioning, and monitor patch compliance to meet security policies.
- Operate and maintain software distribution and endpoint administration tools to support patching and system updates.
Documentation & Process Development
- Develop and maintain documentation, support processes, and standard operating procedures for Windows systems.
- Maintain system performance, security, and reliability through proactive monitoring and continuous improvement.
Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for all Windows PCs, desktops, and server-side issues in the enterprise environment.
- Collaborate with business partners and vendors to resolve deployment and support-related issues efficiently.
Qualifications and Skills
- 3+ years of experience supporting diverse IT systems, including Windows OS deployment, troubleshooting, and support for both desktop and server environments.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server (2016, 2019, or later) and Windows 10/11, including patch management using tools like WSUS, SCCM, and Intune.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise management systems such as Microsoft Configuration Manager, CrowdStrike, and Active Directory, including Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
- Solid troubleshooting skills across server, desktop, and application environments.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management tools and enterprise security practices.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including VLANs, switch configuration, and access control.
- Proficient with issue tracking systems and skilled in maintaining clear, accurate technical documentation.
- Strong communicator and quick learner with a proactive mindset and a passion for adopting emerging technologies through proofs of concept (POCs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation.
- Familiarity with other scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco) are a plus.
