The anticipated salary range for this role is between $142,000.00 and $196,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The VP, Collibra DIP Global Business Analyst, is a critical role reporting to the Data Governance Platform Manager. This role will support the Data Governance Platform Manager by capturing requirements from each regions' stakeholders; support the E2E global business requirement gathering sessions; document requirements; define E2E global functional specifications for enhancements to the firm's data governance platform (Collibra DIP). This role will design and prepare training materials focused on each Collibra release; and analyze and facilitate remediation of issues with the data governance platform. The Business Analyst will partner with the E2E Testing manager and Collibra developers in implementing requirements captured. 

No direct reports. This role reports into the Data Governance Platform Manager within the Global Data Governance & Tooling Transformation Team. This role will be responsible for all bsuiness requirements documentation and capturing enhancements for the Data Governance Platform (Collibra DIP); this tool will be used by all SMBC Regions (including Americas Division, EMEA, Tokyo, APAC, and East Asia).

Role Objectives

  • Collaborate with diverse global stakeholders across various business units to elicit, analyze, and document comprehensive global functional requirements. Capture and document detailed requirements in standardized Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) specifically for enhancements and new functionalities within the Collibra Data Intelligence Platform (DIP).
  • Ensure all documented requirements adhere to established global policies, standards, and frameworks                                
  • Participate in review sessions with stakeholders to effectively prioritize enhancement requests based on business value and strategic alignment. Work closely with the Collibra DIP Manager to organize, assign, and track enhancements through the release lifecycle.                                
  • Lead thorough review sessions of Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and functional specifications with technology teams, ensuring clear understanding and alignment to inform development efforts.                                
  • Work closely with the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) Manager to ensure that unit test cases accurately reflect the requested enhancements and validate the functionality.                
  • Develop comprehensive training guides for each release, clearly documenting new enhancements and changes in functionality for end-users.                                
  • Conduct requirements review sessions with technical Collibra developers to ensure understanding on business requirements.                                
  • Work with the E2E Testing Manager on every UAT conducted. This effort, often performed on a monthly basis, involves assisting in the creation of UAT test cases, helping users complete UAT, and summarizing the results of UAT cycles.                                
  • Support facilitating the periodic E2E Global Requirements Gathering sessions, formally gathering input from global data governance

Qualifications and Skills

  • Familiar with and experience with Collibra.                                
  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills to build enduring and productive alliances across matrix organizations.
  • Strong team player with excellent listening, interpersonal, facilitation, written, oral and communication skills; ability to effectively communicate concepts in both technical and user-friendly language to management, peers, staff, and other employees so that issues and solutions are understood                                
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and successfully manage multiple priorities and stakeholders under pressure, leading teams through matrix and direct management                                
  • Proven skills in MS Office suite, MS Excel (and VBA), MS Project, Powerpoint and Visio                                
  • Familiar with JIRA Issue and Project Tracking application, SDLC phases and process                                
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; the ability to multi-task
  • Results driven, detailed oriented                                
  • Prior experience defining business requirements with business and technical stakeholders                                
  • Experience in financial services, ideally banking, is a plus                                
  • Highly adaptable and dynamic professional. This role can require adjusting to shifting priorities and high intensity work
