This is a hybrid role, requiring the successful candidate to attend our Tralee office.

Role Description

We are seeking a Vice President, Technical Recovery Planning Coordinator to lead and manage disaster recovery (DR) tests and exercises across on-premises, cloud, and vendor-hosted applications. This role is critical to ensuring the resilience and continuity of our technology ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise and exceptional organizational skills to plan, execute, and document DR activities. 

You will collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and program managers to design and run comprehensive recovery scenarios, validate recovery procedures, and maintain accurate, actionable documentation. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying gaps, driving improvements, and ensuring compliance with recovery objectives and regulatory requirements. This position requires weekend and off hours schedules during DR tests. 

Role Objectives

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute regular BC/DR tests and exercises to validate the effectiveness of recovery procedures and identify areas for improvement. Analyze test results and implement necessary corrective actions.
  • Manage testing of all Tier 1,2, and 3 applications for on-prem, vendor hosted, and cloud applications.  
  • Document test results and follow up on root cause analysis.  
  • Establish and maintain the overall plans for executing all DR procedures and manage their interdependencies.
  • Create high level timelines for each DR test, and more focused plans for technical teams to execute. Manage the test from end to end (planning, execution, follow up)
  • Work with the IT technical staff to ensure that disaster recovery solutions are adequate, in place, maintained, and tested as part of the regular operational life cycle.
  • Help ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Serve as a point of contact for BC/DR related incidents, communicating effectively with stakeholders, technical teams, and management during disruptions.
  • Stay informed of emerging threats, technologies, and best practices in BC/DR and proactively recommend improvements to existing plans and strategies.
  • Participate in professional development activities and training sessions on a regular basis.
  • Effectively track application RTO during test exercises, and schedule re-tests for failed applications.  
  • Present DR testing updates and results in various SMBC Working Groups.
  • Collect and review vendor DR plans and manage testing with vendors.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), distributed systems, and application architecture.
  • Writing Experience: 3–5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in a technology or resilience-focused environment.
  • Excel: Advanced skills (pivot tables, formulas, data visualization).
  • PowerPoint: Strong presentation design and storytelling ability.
  • Documentation Platforms: Experience with Confluence, SharePoint, or similar.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional grammar, formatting, and organizational skills.
  • Communication: Ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare).
  • Familiarity with banking regulations ( e.g., FRB, NYDFS, FINRA, OCC, RegSCI).
  • Advanced skills with MS suite (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)  
  • Advanced skills with creating documentation and
