Role Description
SMBC is seeking a Payments Application Support Engineer who has a strong passion for Production Support and is interested in building a career at a fast growing and reputable Bank. The successful candidate will be joining a global team that supports the bank’s critical applications running on Linux, UNIX, and Windows operating systems, with an increasing focus on cloud-native platforms and API-driven architectures. They will be given opportunities to participate in provide support for a wide variety of FinTech applications and technologies, primarily in release and production environments.
This role will report to the Director of Production Support.
Role Objectives: Delivery
- Provide support for a wide variety of FinTech applications and technologies, primarily in release and production environments.
- Implement automation solutions, cloud-based monitoring, and preventative measures for repetitive tasks and issues.
- Responsible for application configuration & deployment, issue resolution, and business user requests.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are expected.
- Occasional weekend and on-call support will be required on a rotational basis.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in a similar position OR recent graduate with a degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
- Understanding of Linux operating systems and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong understanding of API technologies, including RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
- Familiarity with Shared Services technologies and API gateways (e.g., Google Apigee).
- Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate a self-motivated and disciplined approach to learning and working.
- Ability to work in a team environment and demonstrate leadership skills when needed.
- Possess a highly developed sense of personal accountability and follow-through with an ability to effectively prioritize multiple personal tasks, projects, and goals.
- 3-5 years of experience highly desired.
Experience working with Google Apigee suite:
- Drupal.
- Nginx.
- Apache Qpid, ZooKeeper, Cassandra.
- PostgreSQL.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Shell, Python, Perl, JavaScript, PowerShell.
- Experience using automation tools or writing automation scripts.
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
