This is a hybrid role, requiring the successful candidate to attend our Tralee office.

Role Description

SMBC is seeking a Business Intelligence (BI) Developer with a strong passion for data and analytics who is interested in building a career at a fast growing and reputable Bank. The Insider Risk BI Developer will review data, metrics, reports, and dashboards to identify the best ways to visualize and disseminate information on insider and cyber risks. The role involves understanding the metrics/visualization requirements in-depth and using frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53, CISA IRMPE, and NIST AI RMF, with a focus on insider risk. This is a technical, analysis-driven position that emphasizes understanding insider and cyber risk and communicating it in the best ways to help foster a more secure environment through effective communication and reporting.

 

This role will report to the Head of Insider Risk for SMBC Americas Division.  

Role Objectives

  • Analytical delivery of insider risk and cybersecurity metrics, KPIs/KRIs, and dashboards.
  • Assist in evaluation of existing and planned metrics and dashboards, identify gaps, and propose solutions.
  • Synthesizing insider and cyber intelligence, interpreting policy compliance data, and contributing to strategic recommendations.
  • Produce technical to executive-level reporting using Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint, and track and manage tasks using tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, and other project management platforms.
  • Engage and collaborate with internal stakeholders and ensure that metrics are actionable and support broader organizational objectives related to cyber insider risk and compliance.
  • Support the use of metrics and dashboards by different types of users.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Recommended experience is 2 years or more in a business intelligence-focused role.
  • Must have strong ability to apply business intelligence in a strategic context,
  • Proficiency in Relational Databases, SQL, Power BI/Tableau, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Experience in tools such as Python, Databricks, ServiceNow and Jira would be a plus.
  • Candidates must have strong data and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret technical data and build engaging metrics, visualizations, and dashboards for different levels of business stakeholders.
  • Experience with insider risk and cybersecurity principles, insider risk frameworks and insider threat modeling is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new methodologies is essential.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a self-motivated and disciplined approach to learning and working.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate leadership skills when needed.
  • Possess a highly developed sense of personal accountability and follow-through with an ability to effectively prioritize multiple personal tasks, projects, and goals.
