- This is a hybrid role, requiring the successful candidate to attend our Tralee office.
- This team operates on a 24/7 schedule, including rotational weekend and overnight shifts to ensure continuous coverage.
Role Description
SMBC is seeking a skilled System Support Admin L1 to join our Production Management Operations Center within the Americas Division. This role is ideal for a candidate will demonstrate functional understanding of IT hardware infrastructure, resource requirements, network configurations and process functions necessary to ensure efficient data centre operations. You will be part of the Level 1 System Support team, responsible monitoring computing resources in company's data center, ensuring high availability and adequate capacity for all functions and processes. You will be given the opportunity to create reporting tools and processes to analyze capacity utilization, equipment function and maintenance needs.
This role reports into the Vice President of Production Management Operations Center.
Role Objectives: Delivery
- Provide Level 1 support for infrastructure issues across Windows Server, Linux, messaging platforms, and automation tools.
- Administer and troubleshoot Linux systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu), ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
- Support development and database teams with setting job schedules, troubleshooting process errors, and monitoring resource and capacity utilization.
- Work with colleagues in IT systems and support to perform maintenance tasks, troubleshoot data center infrastructure issues, and to install and configure new hardware. Engage with business unit leads and process owners to monitor system performance, provide reports on overall function, and support any issues that may arise. Partner with disaster recovery team to implement and maintain contingency plans for disaster scenarios and system outages.
- Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed.
- Work rotational shifts, including scheduled Saturday coverage, to ensure consistent support availability.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in infrastructure and end-user support roles.
- Functional understand in Linux system administration (user management, system updates, log analysis, shell scripting).
- Display basic project management skills required to coordinate equipment management functions, process monitoring and scheduling, and capacity analysis and reporting.
- Possess knowledge of automated reporting tools and scripting to simplify monitoring tasks and the generation of reports both for internal and external departments.
- Show ability to quickly troubleshoot and identify performance issue root causes, coordinate incident response with other teams, and manage disaster recovery plans.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong documentation and process improvement skills.
- High sense of urgency and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
