Role Description
Execute assigned trades that may include bonds, notes or fixed income-linked securities. Communicate with trading counterparts at asset management firms and hedge funds with respect to market news, firm research, order instructions, liquidity availability, etc. to improve decision-making and performance and reduce trading costs. Contribute to transaction cost analysis to best execute fixed income trades.
Role Objectives: Delivery
Ensure accuracy of trade executions (i.e., trade reconciliation reports, audits, etc.) that may include bonds, notes and/or fixed income-linked securities. Assist in day-to-day administrative issues / transactions in support of trading and trading operations. Proactively communicate with trading counterparts at corporate and institutional clients with respect to market news, firm research, order instructions, liquidity availability and changing market conditions to help support improved decision making, increase performance and reduce trading costs. Prepare transaction cost analysis (TCA) and help identify / synthesize data that contribute to best execution process. Support best execution of fixed income trades. Develop essential external relationships (i.e., IOI firms) to find new sources of liquidity, including alternative trading systems and other IOI / block trading offerings, and tools to improve execution (i.e., speed and price). Support legal and compliance (i.e., provide reporting and/or compliance documentation as required) teams with regulations and/or internal policies. Respond to ad-hoc requests for information from operations, technology and sales (i.e., cyber security, commission runs, best execution audits, etc.).
Role Objectives: Interpersonal
Develop partnerships with trading team members and/or counterparts at buy-side firms by proactively communicating news, updates on orders, displaying agility to fluctuations in the market and the ability to adapt to and support client needs. Work with team to effectively handle incoming orders, research and opportunities to help efficiently execute orders and/or relay important information to senior trading team members. Work with compliance, legal and risk management to broaden working knowledge of market trends, risk / regulatory framework and to strengthen troubleshooting abilities and help expedite resolution of potential issues in real-time.
Role Objectives: Expertise
Apply basic experience in bonds, notes or fixed income-linked securities navigating market volatility to capture trading alpha, accessing liquidity in a timely manner and reducing trading costs. Utilize advanced certifications (i.e., CIMA) and/or degrees (MBA). Possess the required FINRA securities licensing registrations (i.e., Series 7, 57, 63 etc.) and associated continuing education requirements. Demonstrate basic knowledge of (and help improve) the firm's trading algorithms / systems (Charles River, Bloomberg, Market Access, Tradeweb, Neptune, AlgoMeAlpha, etc.), commodity data and news providers, liquidity sources, brokerage firms and other supporting vendors. Help support new tools and methodologies to improve execution and alpha generation for proprietary strategies. Leverage research to help promote idea flow for major institutional clients and ongoing product support and updates. Partner with risk management team to improve portfolio risk assessment.
