The anticipated salary range for this role is between $146,000.00 and $160,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
Seeking a Vice President for the Capital Management Function to support various CUSO Treasury’s Balance Sheet Optimization initiatives.
Initiatives will span numerous areas including: (i) Monitoring various on and off-balance sheet sources and uses of capital to monitor costs and identify areas for optimization; (ii) Producing and monitoring various Balance Sheet Management metrics; (iii) Working closely with Finance, Business and Regional partners to determine, plan and implement strategic initiatives; and (iv) Performing various ad hoc, balance sheet optimization analytics.
This position involves cross-functional interaction and collaboration across teams within Treasury and the broader firm, including but not limited to Regulatory Reporting, Financial Controllers, and Finance Change Management. The ability to assimilate knowledge, work efficiently, and communicate effectively across these functions will be key to success.
Responsibilities
- Perform various BAU processes and ad-hoc analyses to support capital planning initiatives, including Balance Sheet forecasting, monitoring key metrics, evaluating new products and participating in balance sheet optimization initiatives
- Participate in key areas of capital planning, including Capital Stress Testing, Capital Allocation & Forecasting, development of Capital monitoring framework and Internal capital targets and triggers
- Perform Risk Weighted Asset (RWA) analytics and participate in interpretations of regulatory requirements for capital elements
- Maintain an understanding of SMBC’s regulatory capital and funding processes and anticipated future regulatory rule changes
- Participate in the development of Capital Management systems and processes
Qualifications and Skills
- 5-7+ years of working experience in the banking industry in Capital Management. Past experience in Balance Sheet Optimization is a huge plus
- Knowledge of Basel rules and detailed understanding of evolving regulatory capital requirements and guidance
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to create senior management presentations
