The anticipated salary range for this role is between $126,000.00 and $175,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
The SMBC Cash Management business is seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused data analyst with strong visualization and project management capabilities. The Strategy and PMO Project Support member is a part of the Cash Management group within Corporate Banking. This role will drive strategic insights and support transformation initiatives across the business, focused on improving the capabilities and competitiveness of the business.
Role Objectives
- Ability to source, transform, analyze and visualize key data to drive informed business decisions.
- Develop approaches to solve issues and challenges identified within the Cash Management business in a structured fact-based manner, including plans, assessment of risk and alternatives and proposed paths to resolution.
- Collaborate with various business and functional partners to ensure various stakeholder views are factored into analysis, especially those of our clients.
- Develop presentations to effectively communicate the concepts and recommendations from the analysis developed.
Qualifications and Skills
Recommended Experience
- Minimum 7 years of experience in delivering data analysis, strategic insights, business intelligence, project management or related fields.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in data transformation and visualization, including strong expertise in Power BI, Alteryx or similar platforms.
- Experience with Python, SQL, Excel, and other data manipulation tools.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) and data warehousing concepts.
- Experience integrating data from multiple sources, including APIs and enterprise systems.
Business and Analytical Skills
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Deep understanding of transaction banking and cash management operations.
- Ability to synthesize complex data from multiple sources into clear, fact-based recommendations.
Project Management and Support Skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams by translating business needs into technical requirements and actionable data solutions.
- Skilled in organizing and facilitating project planning, stakeholder communications, and progress tracking.
Customer-Centric Mindset
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize customer needs in solution design and delivery.
- Experience in designing dashboards and reports that drive user engagement and decision-making.
Communication and Collaboration
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, technical staff, and external vendors.
- Comfortable presenting insights to senior leadership and non-technical audiences.
Compliance and Adaptability
- Experience working in regulated environments with adherence to banking and regulatory compliance, as well as data governance standards.

Language
- Japanese language is a plus.
