The anticipated salary range for this role is between $153,000.00 and $196,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Cyber Resilience function is a 1st Line of Defense (LOD) in its role of monitoring and assessing business practices, security, and technology as it related to Resilience. The Information Security Group implements a framework designed to protect data and information assets from a wide range of threats to ensure resilience, business continuity, minimize disruption, and to maximize returns on investments and business opportunities. 

Reporting to the Director of Cyber Resilience Governance, the VP - Project Manager supports the 1st LOD Information Security Group Department Americas Division’s (ISDAD) managing project management activities related to Cyber Resilience in accordance with US Regulations, Head Office policies and industry practices for Information Security.

Role Objectives

  • Lead and manage the Cyber Resilience projects from initiation through completion.
  • Utilize project management methodologies and SMBC organizational tools (e.g., ServiceNow) to establish project plans, timelines, resource plans, cost plans, deliverables, and status reports for Cyber Resilience projects ensuring alignment with organizational goals and defined processes.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders across various departments on information necessary for managing and delivering the projects.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination with cross-functional and external stakeholders to integrate requirements, expectations and dependencies for successful delivery of Cyber Resilience projects.
  • Plan for and schedule meetings to review the projects’ status, and escalate risks and issues for timely resolution.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and updates to keep the project plans up to date including making updates in the corresponding organization tools.
  • Provide timely inputs on ad-hoc informational or reporting requests related to Cyber Resilience projects including around costs, resources, timelines, dependencies, risks, issues, controls, vendors, and audits or regulatory exams.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity or technology management demonstrating a strong command of technology or cyber security, principles, and best practices.
  • Proven track record in project management, with extensive experience leading complex, cross-functional projects to successful outcomes.
  • Experience managing projects in Financial Services industry is highly preferred and advantageous to have knowledge of financial services industry best practices such as the CRI Profile, etc.
  • Knowledge of developing and managing organizational policies, procedures, and standards
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as ServiceNow or similar tools
  • Analytical mindset with superior problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, PMI-ACP, CISM etc. are highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Project Management Institute Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), etc. are preferred
