The anticipated salary range for this role is between $110,000.00 and $125,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation is hiring an Analyst based out of the NYC office.  This role is responsible for structuring and executing complex structured finance transactions for SMBC’s Fund Finance Solutions Department with a focus on NAV, Hybrid, GP as well as other fund financing solutions.   

 

Scope of responsibilities includes assisting in deal structuring, arranging, deal monitoring and collaborating with the Bank's Loan Syndication department. Responsible for all facilities related to capital commitment and other fund financing across all geographies and strategic sectors including corporate private equity, real estate, infrastructure, corporate credit and secondaries. The ideal candidate will have strong financial modeling, financial accounting and time management skills.    

Role Objectives

  • Assist senior team members in structuring and executing complex fund finance transactions for high profile private equity clients.
  • Support new deal execution from inception to closing, including transaction structuring, due diligence, and financing document negotiation alongside the Bank's legal department and external counsel.
  • Support senior team members in managing the full lifecycle of legacy credit facilities, including extensions, amendments, and refinancings.
  • Assist in the credit process including application preparation, risk grading, financial statement analysis, modeling and credit approval.                
  • Support portfolio management functions, including exposure reporting, collateral management and credit oversight.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a quantitative discipline preferred. (Masters, CFA, or CAIA preferred)
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate banking, or a related field. Experience with fund finance, leveraged finance, or private capital structures preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling skills. Understanding of various valuation methodologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Highly organized, self‑motivated, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strong ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and represent SMBC professionally with external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of fund finance industry, exposure to private equity fund structures, portfolio company analysis, or valuation‑driven credit products preferred.
