Role Description
Create and maintain a program for ensuring that domestic taxes across all jurisdictions are in compliance with appropriate laws and filed on time. Ensure that foreign taxes are filed on time and associated tax positions are supportable by economic analysis. Prepare tax provision for financial statements. Create tax minimization strategies and defendable position analysis.
Role Objectives: Delivery
Prepare underlying forms and analysis to support the timely filing of domestic taxes (federal, state / multi-state, business, use, city). Prepare forms and underlying economic analysis such as transfer pricing to support foreign tax filings. Prepare the tax provision for financial statements in accordance with ASC 740 / FAS109 calculating ETR, deferred and current taxes. Maintaining reconciliations between tax, general ledger and individual asset values. Contribute to defendable position analysis. Support tax audits across all jurisdictions and types. Monitor changes in law such as revenue rulings. Document SOX 404 controls and test to provide control assertions. Work with client-facing staff and finance to create new products and optimize financial outcomes.
Role Objectives: Interpersonal
Develop relationships across finance, legal, risk and front office functions to help ensure the tax treatments of businesses and transactions are properly handled. Support discussions on new product development, risk management, and strategy incorporating tax consideration. Cooperatively work with IT and other finance units to improve data gathering and analysis. Develop relationships within industry and trade organizations to better understand emerging trends and expand network of advice.

Apply basic knowledge of tax law and accounting to assist in the recording of tax provision, timely and accurate filing of returns and creation of efficient tax strategies. Develop an understanding of the business and associated transactions to help ensure proper tax accounting and reporting. Utilize information technology to better gather and manage data. Apply modeling and analytical skills to prepare analysis and draft reports. Communicate tax accounting principles and technical analysis effectively. Develop an understanding of auditing theory and accounting controls to help avoid compliance issues and audit exceptions.
