The anticipated salary range for this role is between $235,000.00 and $265,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Executive Director for the Enablement Team will oversee the systems and data infrastructure, as well as the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards, and reporting for the bank’s risk management functions. This role involves leading a team responsible for ensuring the robustness and efficiency of the bank’s risk management infrastructure and compliance with regulatory requirements. 

Role Objectives

  • Leadership and Team Management: 
    • Lead and mentor a team of professionals in systems and data infrastructure, policy development, and reporting. 
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment. 
    • Provide guidance and support for professional development. 
    • Systems and Data Infrastructure: 
    • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the bank’s risk management systems and data infrastructure. 
    • Ensure the infrastructure supports the needs of various risk modeling and management functions. 
    • Collaborate with IT and other departments to integrate systems and ensure data quality and accessibility. 
  • Policies, Procedures, and Standards: 
    • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards for risk management. 
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. 
    • Regularly review and update policies to reflect changes in regulations and business needs. 
  • Reporting and Analysis: 
    • Oversee the development of comprehensive reporting frameworks for risk management. 
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting to internal and external stakeholders. 
    • Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis and reporting. 
  • Regulatory Compliance and Governance: 
    • Ensure all systems, policies, and procedures meet regulatory requirements and internal governance standards. 
    • Prepare and present documentation and reports to regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders. 
    • Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry best practices. 
  • Stakeholder Engagement: 
    • Act as a liaison between the enablement team and other departments, including Risk Management, Finance, and IT. 
    • Communicate complex infrastructure and policy concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
    • Participate in cross-functional projects and committees. 
       

Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the financial services industry. 
  • Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks and regulatory requirements. 
  • Proficiency in data management and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Tableau, Power BI). 
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. 
  • Proven leadership and team management experience. 
  • Strong project management skills. 
  • Experience with machine learning techniques and their application in risk modeling. 
  • Familiarity with advanced risk management tools and software.
