The anticipated salary range for this role is between $100,000.00 and $110,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
The Fund Finance Solutions Portfolio Management Analyst is a supporting member of the Portfolio Management and Agency team in the Bank's Fund Finance Solutions Department ("FFSD") responsible for providing portfolio level reporting regarding risk frameworks for senior stakeholders, exposure management, and assist in the creation of budget and profitability planning in relation to managing the FX (foreign exchange) hedging products for the group.
Role Objectives
- Prepare internal and external presentations for senior stakeholders and regulatory bodies
- Monitor and provide reporting regarding risk frameworks, exposure management, profitability and other KPIs and limits
- Ability to reconcile conflicting workbooks/data sets and remedy the root cause
- Exhibit progress in achieving technical proficiency using all SMBC analytical tools and internal financial models, and SMBC systems necessary to perform the responsibilities of the role
- Develop knowledge of financial statements and provide insightful analysis proficiently, eliminating “elevator commentary,” to effectively influence outcomes that support business objectives
- Demonstrate advanced attention to detail and an ability to complete work accurately and precisely in a timely manner against strict deadlines with minimal need for revisions
- Assist with the development of the application and negotiation process for FX deals
- Learn the basic structure of FX hedging, including key documentation
- Display a desire and the capability to handle more responsibilities over time
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience/Knowledge Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field; 0-2 years of comparable or relevant experience
- Experience working in data analysis or in a corporate banking group preferred
- Knowledge of basic corporate finance, accounting, and FX hedging
- Ability to learn financial analysis
- Familiarity with bank regulations, risk and compliance factors and regulatory matters

- Solid financial analytical skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively with all levels across the organization
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively to meet strict and competing deadlines
- Highly collaborative and flexible in a team and client environment and ability to form good relationships
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
