The anticipated salary range for this role is between $85,000.00 and $100,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Fixed Income Algorithmic Strat is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring algorithmic trading strategies specifically for interest rate products. This role involves quantitative analysis, model development, and real-time trading execution to optimize profitability and manage risk.   This role is ideal for individuals who are analytical, results-driven, and passionate about leveraging technology to enhance trading strategies 

Role Objectives

•    Design and Implement Trading Models: Develop quantitative models and algorithms for trading interest rate products. 
•    Monitor Performance: Monitor the performance of trading strategies, making necessary adjustments to improve efficiency and manage risk. 
•    Data Analysis: Analyze datasets to identify trading opportunities and market patterns. 
•    Risk Management: Apply advanced mathematical and statistical techniques to manage risk and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. 
•    Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders. 
•    Market Research: Stay updated with financial market trends, economic news, and interest rate movements. 
•    Technical Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for models and algorithms developed. 
•    Communication: Effectively communicate complex trading strategies and results to team members, management, and other stakeholders. 

Qualifications and Skills

•    Educational Background: Bachelor or Master's degree in Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
•    Quantitative Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in statistical and mathematical modeling. 
•    Programming Skills: Expertise in programming languages such as Python or Java, and experience with algorithm development. 
•    Financial Knowledge: Broad knowledge of financial markets, particularly interest rate products and derivatives. 
•    Experience: Not required. Related previous experience in algorithmic trading will be a plus. 
•    Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt models based on changing market conditions. 
•    Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with various stakeholders. 
Preferred Skills: 
•    High-Frequency Trading: Experience with high-frequency trading systems and real-time data analysis. 
•    Machine Learning: Familiarity with machine learning techniques and their application in trading strategies. 
•    Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of regulatory requirements and risk management practices in financial trading. 

Additional Requirements
