The anticipated salary range for this role is between $110,000.00 and $225,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Associate will be in charge of the set up and monitoring process for broadly syndicated loan and private credit Collateralized Loan Obligation (CLO) warehouses.

Role Objectives:

The job responsibilities are described herein:

  • Reviewing and negotiating various CLO warehouse credit agreements;
  • Preparing spreadsheets, projections and cashflow analyses of warehouse facilities;
  • Drafting and submitting internal SMBC credit applications;
  • Developing an understanding of ratings criteria and bank regulations;
  • Working with rating agencies to get rating on certain facilities;
  • Working closely with other verticals within SMBC including the CLO Banking, Loan Capital Markets and the Lender Finance.
  • Engaging with clients through calls, discussions, etc… during different phases of the warehousing process

Qualifications and Skills

  • 2-5 years of banking experience in financial analysis, credit analysis, credit structuring at a corporate or investment bank or other financial institution
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business or Accounting preferred or equivalent education and training
  • Strong ability and background working with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint,) is required
  • Ability to read various financial statements and prepare spreadsheets
  • Demonstrates a high degree of attention to detail and an ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner against strict deadlines.
  • Familiarity with corporate finance and some accounting rules is required
  • Some knowledge of research databases and tools such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ, HIS Markit, etc.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the capacity to work well in a team structure.
  • Securities licenses required
