The anticipated salary range for this role is between $146,000.00 and $160,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. Role Description
SMBC Combined U.S. Operations (“CUSO”) Corporate Treasury seeks qualitatively and quantitatively oriented individual, with relevant industry experience, for the position of VP. The candidate will perform various Balance Sheet & Capital Optimization processes to ensure effective and efficient use of the CUSO balance sheet with a goal of improving return on capital measures for the Americas Division.
This function will provide support to senior management and other business stakeholders in the Corporate Treasury Department Americas Division, which reports directly to the U.S. Chief Financial Officer (“U.S. CFO”). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial markets, instruments, US regulatory framework and risk management techniques.
This role will run various Balance Sheet Optimization processes including management of the comprehensive capital management framework that incorporates setting targets, monitoring/managing current capital levels, and performing SMBC AH testing in partnership with the risk management department, head-office stakeholders, and key front office personnel. These initiatives will span numerous areas including: (i) developing and enhancing balance sheet and capital forecasting methodologies across various scenarios and the stress continuum; (ii) collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to enhance various funding and risk management processes and capabilities; (iii) running related BAU processes such as subsidiary funding, new product approvals, management reporting; and (iv) various ad hoc, regulatory remediation initiatives, as required.
This position involves cross-functional interaction and collaboration across teams within Treasury and the broader firm, including but not limited to Liquidity Management, Asset Liability Management, Regulatory Reporting, Financial Controllers, and Finance Change Management. The ability to assimilate knowledge, work efficiently, and communicate effectively across these functions will be crucial for success.

The role requires a hybrid work arrangement with a current expectation of two days in-office per week, subject to change in accordance with organizational needs.
Role Responsibilities
- Run processes and perform ad-hoc analyses to support BAU and strategic initiatives, including capital distribution, cost of capital, group policies and procedures, and analytics;
- Analyze and interpret financial statements to develop forecasting processes to enable entity, business, and regional views of both local and global financial resource consumption and constraint;
- Develop and enhance financial forecasts and perform detailed analyses to support capital management initiatives, including stress testing;
- Utilize spreadsheet software and analytics tools to analyze and interpret large datasets;
- Prepare high quality, well-structured presentations for senior leadership and other stakeholders;
- Maintain an understanding of SMBC’s regulatory capital and funding processes and anticipated future regulatory rule changes;
- Collaborate cross-functionally across Risk, Finance, and Treasury teams and maintain foundational knowledge across Treasury disciplines, inclusive of liquidity management, funds transfer pricing, and asset / liability management;
- Support end-to-end project management of routine and ad-hoc workstreams within Capital Management through minute-taking, artifact documentation and status reporting to senior leadership; and
- Support the drafting, review, and update of relevant policies relating to Treasury fields such as the Capital Management Policy and Capital Distribution Framework.

Qualifications and Skills
- 6+ years of working experience in financial industry in Finance, Treasury, or Risk departments – prior experience in CCAR/DFAST is preferred;
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, computer science or related field, Master’s degree preferred; and MBA/CFA/FRM/CPA or other professional qualification highly preferred;
- Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and plan/prioritize appropriately;
- Lead and drive initiatives through creative thinking and pragmatism;
- Excellent writing skills, previous experience in drafting corporate policies or procedures is highly preferred;
- Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills;
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI;
- Basic experience in Python, R, SPSS, and/or SQL; and
- Strong presentation and inter-personal skills.
