The anticipated salary range for this role is between $177,000.00 and $220,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to build out and lead a newly created Funding Product Control team that will be responsible for accurate financial reporting, P&L analysis, and control over funding activities. This role ensures the integrity of financial data related to Treasury funding operations, including liquidity management, interbank transactions, etc. The successful candidate will maintain a robust internal control framework across the funding lifecycle, supporting financial, regulatory, and management reporting requirements. Additionally, the role will drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and finance transformation projects.

Role Objectives: Delivery

  • Oversee daily P&L validation, attribution, and reporting for funding desks.
  • Collaborate with Treasury, Markets, Risk, and Finance teams.
  • Provide insights for strategic funding decisions and performance analysis.
  • Lead creation/automation of templates and enhancing the controls around P&L reporting.
  • Assist with transformation efforts to modernize the company's financial infrastructure.
  • Monitor trading activity for ad-hoc valuations and trade reserves and work with partners to ensure accuracy of financial statements.
  • Document new policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in financial services, product control, or treasury-related roles.
  • Strong understanding of funding instruments and liquidity management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent; CPA, CFA, or FRM preferred.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP for financial instruments; experience with IFRS or JGAAP is a plus.
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to mentor and develop teams.
