The anticipated salary range for this role is between $299,000.00 and $306,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Objectives
- Lead a team of liquidity management professionals and establish a liquidity framework to support the liquidity management of SMBC Americas Division and SMBC Cayman Branch.
- Develop a liquidity stress testing framework to identify the potential impacts to SMBC’s liquidity position under a range of stress market conditions.
- Develop set of tools and capabilities such as cashflow forecasting, intraday liquidity framework, liquidity metrics and indicators to support risk identification and risk monitoring for SMBC. Collaborate with risk, model validation and internal audit teams to effectively review and validate tools and models.
- Develop strategic forecasting capabilities to provide forward looking liquidity impacts measured using liquidity stress testing and liquidity coverage ratio.
- Provide clear communication to Senior stakeholders including SMBC Board and Regulators.
- Establish robust processes, documentation and strong controls to enable timely and efficient execution of liquidity management reporting.
- Develop Funds Transfer Pricing methodologies to appropriately measure and incorporate liquidity costs in products and business activities that drive firms’ use of liquidity resources.
- Establish strong partnership with lines of business and other Treasury stakeholders to support strategic balance sheet management around liquidity constraints.
- Integrate liquidity, funds transfer pricing and asset liability management methodologies across treasury to lead the treasury integration efforts and strengthen treasury capabilities.

Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, financial, economics, or a related field plus
- 12 years of progressively responsible experience.
- Experience must include the following:
- U.S. regulatory requirements for liquidity management, including Enhanced Prudential Standards (Reg YY), Reg WW, and the Supervisory Guidance on Stress Testing for Banking Organizations (SR 10-7); Cayman Islands regulatory requirements for liquidity management, including the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority’s (CIMA) liquidity rules; and U.S. regulatory requirements for funds transfer pricing, including the Interagency Guidance on Funds Transfer Pricing Related to Funding and Contingent Liquidity Risks (SR 16-3).
- The required skills do not need to be maintained over the full term of required experience.
