The anticipated salary range for this role is between $142,000.00 and $196,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

This is an exciting opportunity to work in the area of Data Management, working with the very latest versions of Collibra Data Governance and Data Quality, IBM’s InfoSphere Products and other industry leading software applications.

 

We are seeking a Data Quality / Data Governance Developer to develop and implement against the strategic Data Quality (DQ) solution roadmap.  The developer will work in the Data Governance Team within the Data Management department, delivering complex data quality solutions across financial and regulatory projects as required by the SMBC Group companies.

The role will involve analyzing and designing data quality rules along with the associated data quality exception reporting.  The developer will be expected to partner with other members of the Data Management team to deliver new DQ capabilities, systems and reporting to ensure that SMBC Americas Division has the highest quality data available at all times. Engage with IT systems architects, database administrators, and cyber security team to meet the demands to connect to different systems. Liaise with other technology and development teams as needed to coordinate on the integration of applications with the larger company software ecosystem for global roll-out. Participate in periodic development meetings to align development priorities and objectives, assign tasks, and share experiences and challenges for projects under development. This role will require indirect leadership and mentorship of junior team members. You will be required to work with business teams, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements, needs, or process gaps that would be addressed via proposed applications.

Role Objectives

•    Expert knowledge of banking products, data governance technologies, integrations, data architecture and emerging data stores and technologies
•    Partner with enterprise data steward to identify data quality issues, and work with the CDO team and other stakeholders to resolve these issues, continuously improving overall data quality function. 
•    Lead initiatives to resolve data quality issues. Ensure data quality reporting is accurate, clear, and complete, and presented to the right stakeholders timely.
•    Experience working with Collibra platform and Data Quality and Observability architectural concepts.
•    Ability to own projects from end to end, working with business stakeholders, IT teams, data stewards, and 3rd party companies to ensure accurate and insightful outcomes.
•    Automate migration of existing DQ rules to CDQ  compatible rule payloads using Collibra REST APIs.
•    Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining data governance solutions using Collibra DIP.
•    Experience working with Collibra REST APIs to build Integration applications using  Python, Java, and Spring-Boot.
•    Experience with Azure cloud services, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databases, Functions, Databricks and Unity catalog repository
•    Advanced working SQL knowledge on relational databases, preferably on Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL and databases on Azure cloud
•    Must be able to write simple and complex SQL queries with table joins and perform data profiling analysis.
•    Experience with the DevOps lifecycle (git, Jenkins, etc.)
•    Experience with Jira/Confluence
•    Knowledge of user authentication and authorization between multiple systems, servers and environments.
•    Ability to work with QA Teams, UAT Teams and Data Quality managers on an international team.
•    Completing complex ad-hoc research, DQ analysis, and reporting – ultimately serving as a data quality subject-matter expert on the team.
•     Integrating data from a variety of sources, assuring that they adhere to data quality and accessibility standards.
•    Partner and coordinate with Collibra Platform Manager on analysis and understanding of the impact to Collbira DIP and DQ processes with Collibra enhancement releases.

Qualifications and Skills

•    Bachelors or higher degree in Computer science - equivalent data quality work experience also acceptable. 
•    Knowledge of and a willingness and ability to adapt to new data management technologies.
•    Resilient under pressure, able to adapt quickly to unforeseen work demands and an ability to work to tight time scales.
•    Experience with Agile methodologies 
•    A positive approach to work and to fellow team members.
•    Good communication skills in English, including report writing are required.
•    An analytical mindset.

Preferred Previous Work Experience:


•    Experience of Data Analysis / Data Profiling / Data Quality Development particularly familiarity with Previous experience with Collibra Data Governance and Collibra Data Quality or IBM Infosphere  suite ( Information Analyzer, Data Stage)
•    8-10 Years in financial services industry with a data quality focus
•    Experience in data quality with respect to regulatory or financial reporting
•    Data Quality and Data Governance certifications
