The anticipated salary range for this role is between $158,000.00 and $205,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
The Vice President, Business Analyst serves as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams, driving requirements gathering, process analysis, and solution delivery to support strategic initiatives, operational efficiency, and digital transformation efforts. This role partners closely with business leaders, IT teams, and third-party vendors to identify business needs, optimize processes, and implement technology solutions across enterprise platforms, including HR technology applications such as SAP SuccessFactors and related systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and data analysis.
- Evaluate current business processes and identify opportunities for improvement, automation, and operational efficiencies.
- Translate business requirements into detailed functional specifications, user stories, workflows, and process documentation for technical teams.
- Act as the primary liaison between business users, technology teams, and external vendors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support the design, testing, implementation, training, and deployment of new systems, enhancements, and process improvements.
- Facilitate requirements validation, user acceptance testing (UAT), and issue resolution activities.
- Develop reports, dashboards, metrics, and documentation to support business decision-making and project governance.
- Collaborate within Agile and traditional project delivery frameworks to ensure timely execution and successful outcomes.
- Provide analysis and recommendations to leadership regarding technology capabilities, process optimization, and business solutions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across business and technology functions.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Human Resources, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7+ years of business analysis experience supporting enterprise technology initiatives.Demonstrated experience with requirements gathering, business process mapping, workflow design, and stakeholder management.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and project delivery frameworks.
- Experience working with HR technology platforms, preferably SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, Oracle HCM, or similar enterprise applications.Experience supporting HR technology transformations, enterprise application implementations, or digital modernization initiatives.
- Proficiency with business analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, Visio, JIRA, Confluence, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience facilitating user acceptance testing (UAT), system implementations, training, and change management activities.
- Knowledge of enterprise integrations, HR operations, workforce management, or employee lifecycle processes.
- Experience with data analysis, reporting, business intelligence, and dashboard development.
- Business Analyst certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, Agile Analysis Certification (AAC), or equivalent are a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and build effective relationships across all levels of the organization.
