Role Description

The Risk Developer is responsible for building, enhancing, and supporting enterprise risk technology solutions that enable risk analytics, automation, and decision intelligence. This role designs, develops, and optimizes data pipelines and risk data products using Python and Django, Azure Databricks, SQL, and Azure cloud services, and supports the deployment and operation of AI and machine learning models using governed lifecycle controls such as MLflow and CI/CD pipelines.

The role partners closely with Risk, Data Science, Engineering, Product, and Technology stakeholders to translate enterprise risk requirements into secure, scalable, and auditable platforms and user-facing applications that support enterprise risk management objectives. The position sits within the Risk Technology organization and reports to designated technology leadership, with responsibility for contributing across the full solution lifecycle from design and development through production deployment and ongoing support under established SDLC controls.

Role Objectives: Delivery

  • Design, develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise risk technology applications and data solutions across the application stack, including backend services built with Python and Django, cloud-native architectures leveraging Azure and Azure Databricks, SQL-based data stores, and front-end components developed using React JS, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Partner with Risk, Product, Data Science, IT Architecture, database, and cyber security teams to translate business and risk requirements into secure, scalable, and auditable technical designs aligned to enterprise standards and regulatory expectations.
  • Build and optimize data pipelines and risk data products that enable advanced analytics, automation, and decision intelligence across the enterprise.
  • Support the implementation and operationalization of AI and machine learning models in production environments, including adherence to governed model lifecycle management practices using MLflow, CI/CD pipelines, and appropriate controls and documentation.
  • Apply strong engineering standards to ensure application quality, stability, and performance, including unit testing, performance analysis, logging, authentication and authorization controls, and ongoing optimization of deployed solutions across multiple environments.
  • Contribute to end-to-end SDLC execution, including code development, repository management, documentation, testing coordination, production deployments, and post-production support under established governance and change management processes.
  • Develop and maintain technical and user-facing documentation covering application functionality, data workflows, model behavior, definitions, and troubleshooting to support operational sustainability and knowledge transfer.
  • Work within Agile delivery frameworks to manage multiple initiatives concurrently and deliver solutions that improve business processes, operational efficiency, and enterprise risk capabilities.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 7+ years of experience as a software developer or engineer working with Python, Django, SQL, and modern cloud-based application architectures.
  • Hands-on experience building and deploying applications in Azure environments, including integration with Azure Databricks and related cloud services.
  • Experience supporting AI and machine learning models in production environments, including exposure to governed lifecycle management and CI/CD practices, with familiarity using MLflow.
  • Working knowledge of front-end technologies including React JS, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Understanding of user authentication and authorization mechanisms across multiple systems, servers, and environments.
  • Exposure to Power BI tools is highly desirable.
  • Experience working within Agile methodologies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently research complex topics and apply findings to practical solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to maintain momentum in a fast-paced, regulated enterprise environment.
