The anticipated salary range for this role is between $170,000.00 and $227,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

We are seeking an experienced Production Platform Support Manager to lead reliability, scalability, performance and operational excellence for a high-volume electronic trading, middle and back-office platforms. The role combines SRE leadership with hands-on production support engineering, automation, observability, incident management, change management, release management, problem management, BCP management and deep understanding of front to back trading systems.  
The ideal candidate has strong experience supporting low-latency, highly available electronic trading platforms, middle and back-office platforms and understanding the operational requirement of trading applications, market connectivity, order management, execution, and real-time data processing.

Role Objectives

Leadership:
•    Build, lead and mentor a team of SREs and production engineers supporting electronic trading and middle back-office platforms.
•    Establish SRE standards, operational procedures, engineering practices, and reliability objectives.
•    Define and manage SLIs, SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, availability, latency, and capacity targets.
•    Build a culture of automation, ownership, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
•    Ensure appropriate support coverage, including participation in a 24x7 support model based on business requirements.
•    Partner with senior technology and business stakeholders to establish operational priorities and strategic platform roadmaps.
•    Manage staffing, performance reviews, career development, succession planning, and team growth initiatives.
•    Lead or contribute to the major incident postmortems to improve system resilience.
Platform Reliability:
•    Own reliability and production stability for critical trading, middle and back-office applications
•    Support platforms include:
o    Order Management Systems
o    Execution Management Systems
o    Market Data platforms
o    FIX gateways and exchange connectivity.
o    Pre-trade risk systems
o    Algorithmic trading platforms
o    Trade capture and post-trade systems.
•    Ensure high availability during market hours, economic events, and periods of extreme market volatility.
•    Maintain and continuously improve support documentation, runbooks, and knowledge bases to ensure consistency and audit readiness.
•    Partner with application, infrastructure, network, database, trading and middle back-office technology teams to eliminate systemic reliability issues. 
•    Own the execution and support of releases, change, deployment activities, including production releases and vendor upgrades.
•    Support IAM, compliance, Audit activities.
•    Drive root cause analysis and long-term remediation of recurring production issues.
•    Establish proactive monitoring, alerting, observability, and capacity management practices across all supported platforms.
•    Define operational KPIs and service health metrics and provide regular reporting to technology leadership and business stakeholders.
•    Lead disaster recovery testing, failover exercises, and business continuity planning activities.

Qualifications and Skills

•    12+ years of experience in application support or production operations in financial services, with 5+ years in management role.
•    Experience with team building and managing locally or remotely.
•    Experience with BCP activities and building a DR environment.
•    Experience with FIX protocol, OMS/EMS, market data, exchange connectivity, or algorithmic trading.
•    Experience with low-latency trading architecture.
•    Experience with Kafka, Oracle, MSSQL, MangoDB or similar technologies.
•    Experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads.
•    Experience with clou networking and infrastructure.
•    Experience with eG, Prometheus, Grafana, Logic monitor, Geneos/ITRS, Splunk or similar monitoring platforms.
•    Experience implementing SRE practices across large enterprises environment.
