Role Description
SMBC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated VP, Infrastructure Solutions Architect to join our Architecture and Engineering organization. This role is responsible for defining and guiding infrastructure architecture strategies across a global, hybrid, multi-cloud environment, ensuring enterprise platforms and services are scalable, resilient, secure, and aligned with business and technology objectives.
The successful candidate will partner with various stakeholders to develop solutions, standards, architecture patterns, provide technical leadership for complex initiatives, and help translate strategic priorities into practical, supportable solutions. This position requires broad infrastructure architecture experience with specific strengths in identity and cloud infrastructure-related platforms.
Role Objectives
• Lead and support the design of enterprise infrastructure solutions spanning core infrastructure services, identity, cloud, collaboration, and related operational capabilities.
• Translate business, application, and operational requirements into scalable, resilient, and well-governed solutions.
• Provide architecture leadership for complex strategic initiatives, including modernization, platform transformation, and multi-company/cross-tenant integration efforts.
• Partner with Architecture, Engineering, Operations, and Security teams to establish technical standards, reduce complexity, and improve consistency across the environment.
• Develop roadmaps and provide implementation guidance to support the delivery and operational transition of new and enhanced infrastructure capabilities.
• Identify opportunities to improve platform alignment, operational efficiency, governance, and long-term sustainability across the infrastructure landscape.
• Participation in the EA on/offboarding framework as an Infrastructure Domain Architect providing solutions and approvals through the lens of infrastructure requirements and patterns.
Qualifications and Skills
• 10+ years of Solutions Architecture and/or senior level Infrastructure Engineering experience.
• Identity infrastructure subject matter expertise including multi-forest Active Directory interoperability, Entra ID, federation technologies, JML processes, and Multi-Tenant Organization design.
• Experience with various B2B strategies including Multi-Tenant Organization configurations, tenant separation, multi-cloud management, consolidation strategies, M&A support, and cross-tenant collaboration models.
• Broad familiarity with synchronization, security, and identity technologies and protocols such as LDAP, SAML, SCIM, OpenID, Entra ID Connect, Cloud Sync, MIM, Conditional Access, and related systems.
• Provide Microsoft licensing guidance to a variety of product Service Owners. Background in navigation of the EA/SCE planning and annual True Up processes a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to define architecture standards, develop target-state designs, and provide implementation roadmaps for a variety of enterprise platforms.
• Experience translating business and technical requirements into scalable, resilient, and supportable infrastructure solutions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical teams and senior leadership on architecture strategy, design decisions, and implementation considerations.
• Experience in highly regulated and global environments with strong governance, compliance, and operational control expectations.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and documentation skills.
• Relevant industry or vendor certifications are a plus.
