The anticipated salary range for this role is between $122,000.00 and $205,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.
Role Description
As a Data Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and related Azure services. You will develop custom solutions for job monitoring and alerting, implement ETL processes for both batch and streaming data, and ensure data quality, security, and compliance. This role requires strong programming skills in Python and experience with Spark, microservices-based architectures, and modern data engineering practices. You will collaborate closely with analysts and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, data-driven solutions.
Role Objectives
- Design and implement data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage using Azure Data Factory, Databricks and related tools.
- Develop custom solutions for job alerting, job monitoring .
- Implement ETL processes for batch and streaming services using Azure Databricks and Apache Spark to integrate data from multiple sources into data lakes or warehouses.
- Should have exposure to advanced python object-oriented concept.
- Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with data analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver data-driven solutions.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines for performance and reliability.
- Identify and implement process improvements such as automation and cost optimization.
- Experience building and maintaining microservices based data system infrastructure.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven professional experience as a Data Engineer or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure data services:
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Data Lake Storage
- Azure Databricks
- Azure Logic Apps
- Azure Log Analytics
- Azure Event Hubs
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with NoSQL databases.
- Experience with Spark and streaming technologies (Kafka, Event Hubs).
- Familiarity with data modeling, ETL design, and data warehousing concepts.
- Programming skills in Python, Scala, or Java for data processing and automation.
- Understanding of data security principles and Azure security features.
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate certification is a plus.
