The anticipated salary range for this role is between $179,000.00 and $230,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Data Quality/Data Governance Metrics Manager will play a critical role in defining, tracking, and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics that measure the effectiveness of data governance practices and tooling adoption across the enterprise and support a Global implementation and rollout of DQ/DG metrics. This role will partner closely with data governance leads, business stakeholders, and technology teams to ensure that metrics are aligned with strategic objectives and provide actionable insights to drive continuous improvement.

Role Objectives

  • Define and maintain a comprehensive metrics framework to measure data governance maturity, data quality, tooling adoption, and policy compliance.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting solutions using enterprise tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Collibra, Informatica) to provide visibility into governance performance.
  • Collaborate with business and technology teams to identify data sources, ensure data integrity, and automate metric collection where possible.
  • Support executive reporting by preparing concise, insightful summaries of governance performance for senior leadership and regulatory stakeholders.
  • Monitor and analyze trends in data quality, issue management, lineage completeness, and stewardship activity to identify areas for improvement.
  • Drive metric standardization across regions and business units to ensure consistency and comparability.
  • Contribute to the development of tooling strategy by providing feedback on metric gaps, user behavior, and adoption patterns.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or business intelligence roles.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality principles, and metadata management.
  • Proficiency in data modelling, data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Experience with data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica)
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Collibra Ranger or Steward certification is a plus.
  • Experience with agile delivery, workflow design
  • Background in financial services or other regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with other tools in the data ecosystem (e.g., data quality tools, data catalogs, lineage tools).
