The anticipated salary range for this role is between $153,000.00 and $196,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

As a Vulnerability Management Team Lead, you will be a key part of a high performing SOC team with a desire to continually improve and advance our capabilities to protect SMBC Group. You will bring your passion for Cybersecurity to a team of dedicated professionals and leverage this passion to ensure our vulnerability remediation activities are effective and efficient and that we keep pace with a rapidly changing threat landscape. You will help protect the Bank’s networks, applications, and infrastructure by working with IT owners to identify and mitigate risks that may be targeted by threat groups. The Vulnerability Management team will lead a team of analysts and oversee the identification, analysis, and reporting of vulnerabilities across the enterprise to promote timely risk mitigation and attack surface reduction. Due to the rapidly growing technological footprint and threat landscape, this role requires a quick learner that is skilled, proactive, diligent, and organized. The role will require interaction with various teams to effectively communicate and address risk and promote the use of secure technologies in line with security standards. Role Objectives

  • Lead and mentor the Vulnerability Management team in daily operations
  • Oversee the vulnerability management lifecycle to promote timely risk mitigation and attack surface reduction
  • Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to implement risk reduction strategies
  • Support the culture of continuous improvement by identifying and implementing strategies to mature program and leading / supporting projects as needed
  • Manage exception workflow
  • Lead zero-day incident response to ensure risks are quickly identified and mitigated
  • Develop and maintain documentation to support delivery of control requirements
  • Provide technical support for vulnerability management tools
  • Provide operational and executive reports 

Qualifications and Skills

  • 6+ years of vulnerability management / related experience or 6+ years of IT experience with demonstrated knowledge of cyber risks
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and implementing risk reduction strategies
  • Proficiency with vulnerability management platforms
  • Experience securing and/or conducting security assessments of container and cloud environments
  • In-depth knowledge of common attacks and mitigation strategies 
  • Strong data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) including ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar preferable
  • Ability to script / automate processes is a plus
