The anticipated salary range for this role is between $137,000.00 and $196,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

Applications Systems Specialist supports the compliance applications, systems and services that ensure the bank meets all its legal and regulatory responsibilities and obligations in connection with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) efforts.

The individual should be fully knowledgeable on the functionality of Actimize SAM software and provides the technical expertise for development environment, technology architecture and implementation; guidance for other team members; and general product ownership.

The individual works together with the business users; transaction focused with a strong tactical core that requires, exercising discretion and independent judgment to resolve challenges and achieve the business teams’ goals. 

Role Objectives

  • Plan, design, develop/implement code/configuration for Actimize applications.
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction through the delivery of high quality, timely, SLA and solutions to problems.
  • Communicate effectively and pro-actively with business users, support teams, vendor, and all stakeholders.
  • Multi-task and work on multiple projects with varying priorities and deadlines.
  • Expert ability to articulate points and provide summaries and explanations of technical concepts verbally or in writing to management or other internal departments providing the backing details as needed.
  • Ability to build a network of relationships across the organization, obtain a detailed understanding of internal clients’ needs and drive organization wide design concepts gaining buy in and support of stakeholders.
  • Strong solid analytical skills for diagnosing and troubleshooting potential system issues; Sharp mind to process solution with quick turn-around.
  • Good teamwork, team leadership, product ownership, and strong work ethic.

Qualifications and Skills

  • 7+ years of practical work experience with Actimize SAM, RCM/ActOne software and systems implementation, preferably in the Finance Industry.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with AML and other compliance functions.
  • Strong knowledge of Python, Java, C/C++ or similar languages
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge on relational databases, preferably on Oracle, MS SQL Server, or databases on Azure cloud; Good understanding of ETL/ELT
  • Experience in UNIX and Windows shell scripting for process automation
  • Experience with Agile methodologies; Experience with Jira/Confluence
  • Experience with REST web services and microservice architecture
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; a good teamwork
  • Team-oriented, must be self-motivated, plan and manage time effectively, and be customer focused.
  • Flexible and adaptable to new environments. Ability to quickly learn new systems, products, and businesses; Proactive and result oriented.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information Systems preferred.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with the DevOps lifecycle
  • Experience on Cloud solutions - Azure cloud services, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databases, Functions, Databricks, etc
